• White LEDs by frequency conversion of

    organic dyes

    High-efficiency white light emitting diodes (LEDs) are obtained by generation of frequency down-conversion from a GaN/InGaN blue LED. Our experiments prove that Lumogen® Yellow, a perylene-based polymer dye, can be considered as a good substitute for conventional inorganic colour conversion. By adding a small quantity of Lumogen® Red, warmer white light is obtained. Very high values of luminous flux and optical efficacy (> 100 lm/W) are achieved.
