    Fulvio Caruso

    Fulvio Caruso was born in Italy in 1983 and obtained his Master's Degree in Electronic Engineering “summa cum laude” at University of Palermo in 2012. His graduation thesis was entitled "Production and Characterization of White LEDs Using Luminescence Conversion of a Perylene-based Dye". In 2008 he was winner of one paid internship financed by F.S.E. - POR SICILIA Program in order to design a microcontroller-based system on behalf of the C.R.E.S. (Centro Ricerche Elettronica Sicilia). He obtained his PhD in Electronic Engineering in 2016 from the University of Palermo with a dissertation on nanowire-based hybrid white light-emitting device. Now he is working as a Process Engineer in Novagan (Lausanne, Switzerland)

    Alessandro D'Angelo

    Born in Italy in 1990, he acquired his Master degree in Electronic Engineering at University of Palermo in 2016 with a dissertation titled: “ZnO-based LEDs fabricated on p-GaN/sapphire by hydrothermal method” (supervisors: Dr. M. Mosca, Prof. G. Lullo, Mr. F. Caruso). His personal interests are: nanotechnology, bio-medical applications and generally all electronic devices.

    Valerio Montalbano

    Born in Italy in 1993, he acquired his Bachelor degree in Electronic Engineering at University of Palermo in 2015. The title of his dissertation was: "Development of an application environment in LabVIEW for the analysis of measurements C-V of diodes" (supervisors : Dr Roberto Macaluso, Prof. Giuseppe Lullo).     Antonino Pace

    Born in Italy in 1984, he acquired his Master degree in Electronic Engineering at University of Palermo in 2015.     Giuseppe Scurria

    Born in Palermo in 1989, he acquired the Master degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Palermo in 2016. He spent a period of 6 months at CELIA (Centre Lasers Intenteses et Applications) and ICMCB (Institut de Chimie de la Matière Condensée de Bordeaux) at University of Bordeaux, where he worked on his Master thesis titled: “SHG characterization of direct laser writing pattern on silver doped glass” (supervisors: Dr. Mauro Mosca, Prof. Lionel Canioni, Dr. Yannick Petit). His reaserch interests are: optoelectronic devices, materials for optoelectronic and nanotechnology.

    Biagio Seminara

    Born in Palermo in 1989, after the bachelor he spent 6 months at TFL working on hybrid inorganic-organic white LEDs. He acquired his Master degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Palermo in 2016. The title of his dissertation was: “Organic LED in microcavity” (Supervisors: Prof. C. Calì, Dr. M. Mosca). His research interests are: nanotechnology, optical circuits, electronic and optoelectronic devices.

The title of his dissertation was: "Efficiency improvement of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) through a blocking layer" in collaboration with Italian Institut of Technology (IIT) and Polytechnic University of Turin (Italy), where he ran an internship.     Leandro Zambito

    Born in Italy in 1978, he acquired his Master degree cum laude in Electronic Engineering at University of Palermo in 2013. The title of his dissertation was: "Fabrication and characterisation of warm white-light LED by dip-coating" (supervisors: Dr. Mauro Mosca, Mr. Fulvio Caruso). In 2000-2001 he was scholarship holder at CRES (Sicilian Electronic Research Center) where he attended the ASEIT course (Advanced School for Electronics and Information Technologies).     Carmelinda Aprile

    Born in Italy in 1991, she acquired her Bachelor degree cum laude in Electronic Engineering at University of Palermo in 2013. The title of her dissertation was "Design and fabrication of a VO2-based optical switch" (supervisors: Dr. Mauro Mosca, Mr. Fulvio Caruso). She speaks English and Spanish language.     Valerio Lo Muzzo

    Alessio Cardillo

    He graduated in Electronic Engineering at the University of Palermo in July 2010, with the degree thesis titled “Design and Production of High Reflectivity mirror for Nitrides Vertical Cavity Laser” (supervisor: Prof. Claudio Calì). He acquired a 2nd level Master degree cum laude in “Energy Efficiency – Energy Manager” at the University of Palermo in July 2012. Now he is working as technical advisor on energy efficiency, design of renewable energy solution and the development of ITC project.

    Gioacchino Civiletti

    He graduated in Electronic Engineering at the University of Palermo with grade 103/110, in July 2010. The title of his bachelor’s degree thesis was “Realisation of a system for measuring the barrier capacitance of semiconductor diodes”
     (supervisor: Dr. Roberto Macaluso). Now he is studying at the Politecnico of Torino in the field of Digital Systems. He masters a number of programming languages and software package (e.g. C , C++, Java, C Sharp, labVIEW, Cadence, Comsol, VHDL, Matlab, and simulation systems like PSPICE, PSIM and MULTISIM).     Alberto Sposito

    Dr. Alberto Sposito was born in March 1986. Currently a development engineer in Oxsensis Ltd, in March 2014 he achieved a Doctorate (PhD) in Photonics at the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) of the University of Southampton: he was part of the Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) research group, under the supervision of Prof. Rob Eason; he was involved in two projects regarding fabrication and characterisation of Ti:sapphire waveguide laser and investigation of magneto-optic garnets, such as yttrium iron garnet (YIG), for magneto-optic and microwave application. In March 2010 he achieved a Master‘s Degree cum laude in Electronic Engineering with a thesis on “Design and fabrication of an electro-optic device in ZnO” (supervisors: Prof. C. Calì and Prof. A. Busacca) at University of Palermo. His interests cover different topics: analogue and digital electronics, optical sensors, fabrication and characterisation of optical devices, silicon photonics. He is a member of SPIE (Society of Photo-optical Instrumentation Engineers), OSA (Optical Society of America) and IEEE (Institute of Electric and Electronics Engineers).

    Adriano Sacco

    He graduated cum laude in Electronic Engineering in July 2006 at the University of Palermo with the degree thesis titled “Characterisation of AlGaN-based Solar-blind detectors for flame detection” (supervisors: Prof. Claudio Calì, Dott. Mauro Mosca). From January 2007 until December 2009 he worked in the “Materials and Processes for Micro & Nano Technologies Group” of Polytechnic of Torino (Italy) on systems dedicated to laser-based processes (marking, micromachining, welding), and sensors for agrifood industry. Since January 2010 he has been being PhD student in Electronic Devices at Polytechnic of Torino in collaboration with the Center for Space Human Robotics @PoliTO of Italian Institut of Technology (IIT). The topic of his research activity is the characterisation of third generation photovoltaic cells based on organic dyes (Dye-sensitized Solar Cells).

    Rossana Gazia

    She graduated cum laude in Electronic Engineering in November 2005 with the degree thesis titled “Digital Pressure Regulator for Pulsed Laser Deposition. Design and Fabrication” (supervisors: Prof. Claudio Calì, Prof. C. Giaconia). She attended the first year of PhD at the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton (UK) and obtained her PhD degree on February 2010 at the Polytechnic of Torino (Italy). After working as research assistant at the Polytechnic of Torino, she started working at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Center for Space Human Robotics@PoliTO as Post Doc where she was involved in the deposition and characterization of thin films grown by RF magnetron sputtering for energy harvesting and storage, and sensing applications.
