  • Mauro Mosca is an Associate Professor of Fundamentals of Electronics and Optoelectronic Devices at the Department of Engineering of University of Palermo, Italy, with great foreign experience, gained in Switzerland and in France. He is an academic expert in the field of optoelectronic devices, in particular, LEDs-based on wide-bandgap materials.
    From 2015 to 2018 he was a visiting professor at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, where he worked in the field of nitride-based light-emitting devices. As a Postdoctoral Researcher, he spent several years in Palermo (Italy), in Lausanne (Switzerland), and in Orsay (France) working on both nitride compounds (physics and devices), and wide band-gap oxides deposition techniques. In 2002 he was the recipient of a Marie Curie Industrial Fellowship, which funded a two year-research on AlGaN-based UV photodiodes for flame detection developed in THALES, Research and Technology Labs (Orsay, France). Now, besides his teaching activity as a Professor, he considers himself a process engineer, expert on clean-room device microfabrication (micron scale) with wide skills on clean-room facilities.
    He is a member of the Editorial Board of Electronics (MDPI).
    He published more than 50 scientific papers published on peer-reviewed journals or books. His h-index is 18 (February 2021) with a citation number more than 1000, as resulting from Scopus database.
